SLOTH BEAR

Our Zoo has a new attraction!

The Sloth Bears have arrived. Becky and I got to take the girls to the "Members Only" premier of the Sloth Bears in all their fuzzy glory. They are located in the Asian adventure section of the Tauphaus Park Zoo. They have a good sized home and seemed to be enjoying their new surroundings and all of the attention. Of course, being the space cadet that I am, I forgot to take our camera so that we could post our own pictures of our new buddies. Here is a picture taken from National Geographic along with a link for more info.

With all of the hype these guys are getting, I think it is the perfect time to put in for a change of Skyline's mascot! I think replacing Grizzlies with SLOTH BEARS would be much more appropriate. The Adjective is perfect and since these guys are from India you might even say that these Bears are actually "Baloo!"

(I apologize to Disney for the horrible Jungle Book reference.)

Our Memorial Day Weekend

Our weekend started Friday night with a date to the movies. Mike and Greg came over and babysat for us. On Saturday we did some home improvement things-(More on that later.) Saturday night we went down to the river and fed the ducks. Sunday was mostly a quiet day and the girls went to bed early. On Monday we drove to Burley and had a picnic with my family. We ate lunch, played disc golf, and drove around the lake. On our way back to my parents house we stopped and got ice cream. After dinner and baths last night we headed back home.
We had a great weekend. It was good to get stuff done on our house and to spend time with family.

Walk and Zoo

On Monday, I walked to the park with the girls and let them play. On Tuesday we walked to the bank, then drove to the zoo. Both days were really nice - It was so nice to be outside for a while. Today has been windy, but we were still able to go on a short walk this morning. Both girls do really well siting in the stroller, making it easier for us to walk more.
At the zoo, Kenna knows her way around- but she also has to go a certain way. I took Mike with me to the zoo yesterday and their were a ton of kids there-(I think a few schools were there). Because of the crowd we just made our way through to go see the penguins. Kenna got really mad and got out of the stroller crying. By the time we made it back through the crowd so that I could get on her level to talk to her, she had somewhat calmed down. When I asked her what was wrong she said "Alligator". We needed to start at the alligator, not the penguins. I guess I will know that for next time.

This week

On Monday, Warren had the day off- we went to the zoo, and got our garden area ready. Monday night my parents came up and helped us put in our garden. Tuesday we didn't do much. Wednesday was a little cold, but the girls were really restless, so I asked Mike and Greg to go to the zoo with us. Thursday and today have been cold and windy and with the girls a little bit under the weather, we have stayed inside playing with toys and reading books. I sure hope the weather starts to be more summer weather so we can get out and play in the backyard more.

Enrichment

Last night was our ward's enrichment. I was in charge of decorating. Not all of it was my idea- but I thought that it turned out great. The theme was Food, Fitness, and Finance. We had a someone talk about each subject. For the food, a sister gave a demonstration on how to make puffs, and how to make some different fillings for them. For the Fitness, a sister talked about how to combine good nutrition with good exercise. For the Finance, a sister talked about a budget sheet and how to start a budget. It was all great information and great to be able to be with the sisters in my ward.

Pictures of our weekend

Last Thursday, April 30th we drove over to Burley. On Friday my sister Emily got married in the Twin Falls Temple. Saturday night we drove to Orem to visit Warren's sister Jenny. She was having her baby Milo blessed on Sunday. After church and dinner we drove to Ogden. Monday morning Warren had his series 7 test to take. While he took his test I entertained the girls in the motel room. Monday afternoon, after the test we drove home. When we got home we went grocery shopping, and picked up a kite. For Family Home Evening activity we flew our kite. Tuesday we tried to get on our normal schedule and did up all of our laundry. After all of our traveling the girls seem to be happy to be home. We had a great time, but I am glad to be back in our own home and routine.

Emily's Wedding

My sister Emily got married on Friday, May 1, 2009. It was a very nice day and great that our whole family could be together for the first time in 3 years.
